A full week of practical skills to last a lifetime. This is a fun course designed to develop students’ culinary talents through a combination of demonstration and practical sessions in a friendly, professional environment.

Who is it for?

The 1 week survival course is ideal for school leavers heading for University or travelling around the world. University students often join us in the weeks between the end of finals and graduation.
Many students use it as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

Course Content

This course is your complete introduction to the fundamentals of cookery:

  • Useful cookery techniques and knife skills
  • Living on a healthy shoestring
  • Quick sensational meals
  • Cooking useful, easy sauces
  • Basic baking skills
  • Table setting, service and bar skills
  • Presentation skills

The Cook’s Essential Kit

As well as benefiting from high quality teaching and extensive practical experience on this course, you will also be lent, for the duration of the course, your own Cook’s Essential Kit. A deposit is requested on the first day and returned on the last day - provided all the equipment is returned! This kit is also available to buy at the end of your course, if you so wish. A vital companion to equip you in the world of cookery.
